Last updated: September 2026

1. Introduction

Cable Accessories Ltd is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in a transparent, secure and lawful manner. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, www.cableaccessories.ie, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the rights you have over it. It covers the website only — in particular, the contact form on our Contact Us page.

Cable Accessories Ltd is the “data controller” for the information described here, which simply means we are the company responsible for deciding how and why it is used.

3. What information we collect

Information you give us. The only place this website asks you for personal information is the contact form. When you use it, we collect the details you type in: your name, email address, phone number, company, industry and your message. The form also has an optional tick-box asking whether you would like to receive updates and marketing messages from us, and we record whether you ticked it.

Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, ours runs on a web server that keeps standard technical logs. These record the internet address (IP address) of the device visiting the site, the type of browser used, the pages requested and the date and time. We use these logs only to keep the website secure and working properly, and we do not use them to identify individual visitors. Some elements of the site, such as the fonts it displays, may be loaded from third-party services such as Google, which will also receive your device’s IP address when a page loads.

Cookies. Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember you between visits. This website does not currently use cookies, apart from any that are strictly necessary for it to function. We do not use analytics, tracking or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

4. How we use your information, and our legal basis for doing so

Data protection law says we must have a proper reason (a “legal basis”) for every use we make of personal information. These are the ways we use the information from the contact form, and our reason for each:

  • To reply to your enquiry and deal with any follow-up questions. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us and, where your enquiry is about buying from us, the need to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To send you updates and marketing messages, but only if you ticked the box on the form. Our legal basis is your consent. We do not currently send marketing emails. If we start, we will only send them to people who have ticked the box, every message will include an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing david@cableaccessories.ie.
  • To keep the website secure and running properly. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our website and systems.
  • To comply with legal obligations that apply to us.

“Legitimate interest” is a legal basis that allows a business to use information in ways you would reasonably expect and that have little effect on your privacy. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell personal information to third parties. We share the information you give us through the contact form only with:

  • the company that built and hosts this website, which maintains the contact form on our behalf and passes your enquiry on to us;
  • the email and IT service providers that store our email and files;
  • regulators, courts or law enforcement agencies, where we are legally required to do so.

Our service providers are only permitted to use your information to provide their service to us.

6. Transfers outside the European Economic Area

We are based in Ireland and aim to keep your information within the European Economic Area (EEA), where data protection law is the same as here. Some of our service providers, such as Microsoft and Google, may store or process data outside the EEA, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (standard contract terms that oblige the provider to protect your information to EU standards).

7. How long we keep your information

We do not keep personal information for longer than we need it.

  • Enquiries that do not lead to any business: we keep your details for up to two years from our last contact with you, so that we can answer any follow-up questions, and then delete them.
  • Enquiries that lead to you becoming a customer: we keep your contact details for as long as our business relationship continues. Records of transactions, such as quotations and invoices, are kept for six years, as required by Irish tax and company law.
  • Marketing consent: if you ticked the marketing box, we keep a record of that until you withdraw your consent.

8. How we keep your information secure

We maintain reasonable technical, administrative and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including:

  • access controls
  • encryption where appropriate
  • network security measures
  • employee confidentiality obligations
  • secure data storage practices

Although we strive to protect personal information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you
  • have inaccurate information corrected
  • ask us to delete your personal information
  • restrict or object to how we use it
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on
  • receive a copy of your information in a portable format (data portability)
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, email david@cableaccessories.ie. We will respond within one month, and there is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (DPC), the supervisory authority for data protection in Ireland, at www.dataprotection.ie. We would welcome the chance to resolve any concern first, so please do contact us before going to the DPC.

10. Children’s privacy

Our products and website are intended for business and professional use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

11. Links to other websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we recommend that you read their privacy policies separately.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
